Time The Ambidextrous Ventriloquist

by BOB GALLO   Nov 23, 2023

There are nothing but present,
and present is nothing but the accumulation of past
there is nothing but now,
yet the now itself means everything.

Now cannot be without past or prospect
because then time would seize to be.
There must always be a goal, something to achieve,
for the time to go on.

Because there is no time but now,
the everlasting vibrance,
a spaceless temporal locomotive
that carries the entire universe
with all its space.

Past is accumulation of the now
Therefore, future is the reflection of that accumulation
in the mirror of now.

Now cannot exist without past.
Past cannot be without a future.
they are equally the resultant of one another.

Now is independent
but it is like an ambidextrous ventriloquist
who cannot identify himself,
without the two dummies in either side.

This is really good and aligns with Gilles Deleuze's concept of vertical time as opposed to horizontal time. It emphasizes the interdependence of past, present, and future, much like Deleuze's idea of time as a complex layering rather than a linear progression. The poem's portrayal of the present as a culmination of the past and a foundation for the future echoes Deleuze's notion of time's multiplicity and interconnectedness.

Thanks a lot. Yet I have no idea who the Gilles Deleuze is but haha he must be really smart, thinking like me. :) :)
