Peace (Villanelle)

by Megan Chapman   Nov 24, 2023

Holding the space for my thoughts to take form,
Listening to my soul’s voice deep within,
Seeking the peace of the eye of the storm.

My emotions swirl like bees in a swarm,
I retreat to my garden to begin
Holding the space for my thoughts to take form

So long have I yearned to be in the calm
Of comforting warmth of sunshine on skin.
Seeking the peace of the eye of the storm.

In the distance, I hear the cries forlorn
Of those I loved who’ve refused to look within.
Holding the space for my thoughts to take form.

Those left behind as I move to the dawn,
Through my darkness its light still pale and thin,
Seeking the peace of the eye of the storm.

My path my own now as I find the calm,
Ready to leave behind those places I’ve been,
Holding the space for my thoughts to take form,
Seeking the peace of the eye of the storm.

Yes its evocative in its way of telling a story of coming out the other side of upheaval.
