Star-Crossed

by Kate   Nov 28, 2023

There is nothing for me to forgive;
I hold no resentment, no anger, no disdain.
For choosing what you thought was right,
I cannot and will not place any blame.

I sincerely apologize if I pushed you,
Or expected way too much from the start.
But I had the chance to hold you again
And make up for the time we spent apart.

I remember all of our daydreams
And feel you on my skin when the rain falls.
I send out my thoughts and wishes for you
When the shine of the moon still calls.

It seems that we are star-crossed,
Our lives never how we pictured them to be.
But you are still a shining star in my night sky
That I am honored and elated to see.

The simplicity of this is really beautiful. Letting go isn't easy but it doesn't have to be bitter and you encapsulated this really well.

    Mesmerizing to say the least.

I particularly like the third stanza, though all your words resonate with me. An absorbing read!
