These Years

These years (Anne Winning)

Scatter fragments of yourself in these years.
Decry, ignore, escape that grinding mill.
With time and space, explore different spheres.

Dig, dab, or scrawl some words; dispel your fears.
Play a round, dance or sing; you have free will.
Scatter fragments of yourself in these years.

You have spent precious time with puppeteers,
Swallow no more that bitter pill.
With time and space, explore different spheres.

Within this short life abound new frontiers.
You have overcome the nuts, the bolts, the drill.
Scatter fragments of yourself in these years.

Now claim your choice; ignore the racketeer.
Deny the noises from those voices shrill.
With time and space, explore different spheres.

Wise now, and playful too, shrug off veneer.
Rise, shine, stretch your legs; climb different hills.
Scatter fragments of yourself in these years.
With time and space, explore different spheres.
