When depression builds a home in your body

by Poet on the Piano   Dec 16, 2023

Sitting alone out in the cold
Begging for a speck of hope to hold
Hugging myself in my favorite sweater
Imagining what it'd look like to get better

After three months I'm here again
Trying to change, shouting "when?"
A person who could leave in a similar way
The past finds yet another naive prey

I'm mustering any strength that remains
But the onset of death lingers in my veins
Please understand if I give up the fight
There's a lack of faith, a dimming light

I have come so far in learning to cope
Even when the dark offers little hope
And though I can't promise I'll stick around
I'll try to remember any joy I've found

Depression is such a struggle. Hope your writing helps you vent, or that you have a good support system. The piece was relatable.
