Flight

We left the earth in darkness
To explore the velvet sea
And the sky looked back upon us
Calling out for our bodies

It called us to an ending
A beginning there as well
As if like golden Icarus
We'd find glory if we fell

But our fear was far from present
As we slept, sandwiched by stars
The sun rose twice that morning
Yet it never traveled far
