To Her Fading Rose

by BOB GALLO   Jan 15, 2024

I envy your courage; I envy your spirit.
I envy your melodious chest that hoist my breast to the Milky Way.

Blessings upon your soul my little bird, my beautiful angel.
Blessing upon you to the end of the world
where all the parallels join, and orbits
like tortoise recede their neck back
into the null.

I bless you for the music.
I bless you
for bouquets that now infusing their cologne
so profound
in the resting house of my nostril.

I bless you for the hummingbirds’ beaks
penetrating further into the womb of blooms,
for the colours that imbuing the gardens
deeper in my drawing books.

I bless you for funfair of childhood,
splashing rainbows centrifuging
from the carousels of reminiscence,

for the children in the playparks
that singing your girlhood,
that echoing your joyance,
your ecstatic laughters to everlasting.

I bless you for blooms of the puerile lollypop
printing rainbows in my salivating mouth.
I bless you for every moment we grew up
swinging in playparks
flip-flopping
on the seesaws of a girl and a woman.

I love you for fountains
of childhood dreams,
these pictures that are engraved in my soul,
these candles that are going to burn forever
in your eternal temple in my heart,
my forever sanctuary of love.

I bless you for your courage,
taking death like a spoonful of coughing syrup
I use to give you when you had cold.
Now the whole world is in need of those syrup
Before friezing away to oblivion.

I bless you for oceans that now I see in your soul.
I bless you for eternity that now
looks
as you do.
