Detach me.

It’s a mess, and I never meant it to be this way.
I wish I could live in a world that doesn’t know pain.
I used to always say I prefer to deal with reality,
but now, all I dream about is losing myself to
fake creations, even if it means losing my mind.
I want what can never be - you rescuing me,
forever protected, an invisible bond.
I don’t want to feel whatever this is,
so I’ll retreat, once again, to the numbness,
to the bleak midwinter, to the foggy mornings
where I can drift away without interruption.
