An end to your sentence.

by Poet on the Piano   Feb 11, 2024

I wish it could all be different.
I wish fear wasn't two-faced,
keeping me safe in times of need,
then promising independence,
leaving me to believe that
any of this
is a relatively good idea.

I need the fear to slow me down.
[I needed one more chance from you.]

There is an eerie clarity that
settles over the fogginess of my mind.
It calms me;
there is peace in the known.

And you, are no longer known.
And I, can't be forever known.
