Gone(Like Smoke in The Air)

by Dino Dhamphyr   Feb 21, 2024

In the quiet of regret, I start this tale,
A love once pure, now a bitter gale.
"With hope," I thought, "we'd always stand,"
A future bright, hand in hand.
Yet, in whispers soft, truth did unveil,
A bond once strong, now fragile and frail.

Gone, our love, like smoke in the air,

"I gave you all," my heart's somber song,
Believed our love was fierce and strong.
But shadows crept, in the light of day,
Your love for me, led astray.
Caught in the act, the trust was gone,
Gone, our love, like smoke in the air,

"Was it worth it?" I asked, pain in my gaze,
The silence between us, a consuming blaze.
No words could mend, what was torn apart,
A chasm wide, in each other's heart.
From the ashes, my resolve was born,
Gone, our love, like smoke in the air,

No longer bound by what was lost,
Moving on, no matter the cost.
"I'll find a love," I declare, "pure and true,"
Not haunted by shadows, no thoughts of you.
In the mirror, a future, bright and fair,
Gone, our love, like smoke in the air,

With each step forward, my spirit sings,
From painful endings, new beginnings spring.
No regrets, as I embrace the dawn,
For in letting go, I am reborn.
Yet in my heart, a newfound care,
Gone, our love, like smoke in the air.

I am not at the reborn process, but hope to there once some of this smoky air clears up. Thank you for the encouragement.
