Somewhere between serenity and understanding
Somehow lost within words we’ll never say
Somebody’s floating deep within the silence
A tomb of soundless screaming waits it’s day
Our babies no longer need our lullabies to soothe them
Chalk lines we played along as kids are washed away
This breaking down feels constant all eternal
Half way from flesh to bone is where we ought to stay
For all the storms in my head there is a stillness
A quiet between the night and dawn
A place where hope is as void as sadness
A constant gravity to which my heart is drawn
In these faded pictures of places filled with longing
Something wrong is staring back at me
Mementos of an approaching disaster
A end of days these old eyes will never see
