Comfort Touch

by Vera Flatt   Apr 12, 2024

Your fingers
Drag across my skin
Electrifying the air,
Sparking my heart,
Creating a fresh rhythm.

The storm in my mind
Continues on.
But this time I'm safe.
Wrapped in your arms,
the thunder
Shakes the windows
As the rain pours
And the temperatures drop.

I'm safe,
despite the electrifying
Feeling powering through my veins
With each beat of my heart.

Your warm hands hold me close
Feeling my hips
My stomach
My face

I don't like being touched
But with you it feels
Like you're cutting away my trauma
With each stroke of your fingertips.

I don't like being touched,
But with you,
My soul resurfaces
For a breath of fresh air,
Aching for the graze of your lips against mine.

I don't like being touched
But with you,
It's okay because
Although
I don't like being touched,
with you
I know I'm safe,
And you'd never use touch
To hurt me.

Feeling the comfort
Of you
Beneath
My fingers,
Against
my skin...
Your warmth-
Your breath-
Your heartbeat against mine...

It's the only touch I find comfort in.
