It’s been over 2 years

Since I last saw your face

Not too much has changed

Still in the same place

I was very excited

Had no clue what’d come next

We talked for hours

Then laid down to rest

The years of not knowing

Where I stood in your life

Made it that much easier

For my heart to goodbye

I waited so long

Saw no spark in your eyes

My hopes were much bigger

Love did not actualize

I talked to you often

Even though you weren't there

Wished your shoulder to cry on

When my life was in despair

Now I finally accept it

And you never mislead

A bond I thought was real

Was all in my head

I can say I loved you

Was not part of your plan

Hard to say we're over
