No longer jaded.

by Poet on the Piano   May 20, 2024

Wish you could see me
for who I am,
jade green forests
blushing,
writhing from
my scars;
untwining, showing you
a path to a place
where we've never been
harmed.

I tried to run away
and hide from the
blinking lights.
I found shelter
whenever I saw a
flash of emerald -
my feet able to rest,
my heart filling with dreams.

It carried me to
a land of reprieve;
I imagined your breath,
no longer still in my memory,
alive with my own.
