Another Night

by Jack Nightengale   Jun 27, 2024

How many lights have disappeared now?
An endless world of darkness and no light,
Another mask just to go back and fight.

Should have listened to the voices,
Should have watched the expressions of the countless faces.
Having nightmares and I haven't been to sleep,
But, I welcome them since they're reminders I should keep.

Leaving through the broken door,
Hesitant steps and eyes are on the floor.
Dreams that were never meant to be,
Just a long road ahead of me.

Silent whispers and creeping stares,
Echoed words remind me who cares.
Still I search for the long lost light,
Yet, it's just another night...
