Poseidon's Door

by Synful   Jul 2, 2024

The ocean calls to me -

Her siren song so captivatingly harmonious
As my feet hover over warm sand
While a broken mind spits acrimonious
Claims into a weathered hand -

I watch as each word drips into the sea,
Adding to her salt-laced depths
For when she kisses my wounds as I ease
My self into her embrace with ragged breaths

One final time.

Sapphire eyes no longer glisten with sadness,
But have clouded with exhaustion and dismay
As auburn hair floats gently in the vastness
Of a distraught goodbye's decay.

As darkness consumes a withered being,
I feel my eyes flutter open
To find that, once again, it had all been a dream
Tainted by pain unspoken -

But what happens when I hear the call
And give in to the pull -

And rush to the forbidden escape once more?

Save me from that which beckons from beyond the shore,
And help keep me from knocking on Poseidon's door.
