Eighty-Five cents an hour

by Postguied Parnell   Jul 11, 2024

We will not sleep
Until we die
And wake up in stranger tides
Come now, let it ride.

We all seem to say let it live the day
But what happens when crap turns to nothing

Nothing at all

So watch me fall
Watch me shake
Watch me get back up with no delay
Win the cup and make the grade
A fever that pays

Except, I'm still broke though and life has made its delays

I thought once, I would make it
but its too much to take in
so pour me a lake and sit in it
because these days everybody is so god damn inquisitive.

Pay me above my grade and I'll break from the responsibility of money
So you pay me like a slave and I don't think it's funny.
Eighty five cents every hour and I'm empowered to do shit,
I would say as if, but I've got a responsibility to my community and I cannot let them down.

I'm the crown prince of dunce but I'm pounding the ground.
