When Love Moves You Forward

I sometimes think of our love
Resembles a long street
And long ago our paths would cross
Here where we would meet

Our journey seemed to take a pause
While we admired the views
But slowly, both our steps began
To leave prints from our shoes

Moving forward now in sync
While walking side by side
Our direction was never lost
To progress with great strides

Suddenly, our street was paved
Foundations becoming firm
And nothing seemed to slow us down
When both of our hearts yearn

Often more than a test of time
We might venture off our road
To come across a beaten track
With all it would expose

To turn around the only way
When we both make mistakes
For love is such a learning curve
And needing a few takes

We're lucky to have found our way
When following just our hearts
To stay upon the road we built
Right back from the start

Where love's foundation is the street
Always going the same way
And if we just enjoy the journey
Neither will ever stray
