You Make Me See It

You Make Me See It

You are the one that can see the good
Even with the dead all around you stood
You met a girl, whose heart had no beat
As her lifeless body, lie at your feet.

Behind your eyes I see pain so real
And yet butterflies exude what I feel
Whenever you are around my soul wakes
And I can barely feel the battle of past heartbreaks

You've been on the front line, suffered
And you show me endless beauty, uncovered
You've been battling your entire life
My war with the world trying to become a wife

And I always see the dark in things
And you always see the light,
And I don't know how you see the light so well
When all the bad consumes me in a spell.

You make me see it, your sacrifice
When I think everything is going wrong,
You make it right.
And even through all of your pain and strife
How can you still love me so bright?

You make me see it,
The joy in a single moment,
The warmth of a fire,
You in combat with an opponent,
Within our love I feel burning desire.

I wonder how you see things, through your eyes
And I wonder how blue it is to see the skies,
And I'm sorry, you must battle with me, to see the good
Even with the dead all around, you stood.

Poppies fall, poppies crumble, poppies die --
And you go on loving me,
I don’t know why.

Courageous you are, never lost a single battle
Old war wounds and scars, old soul, I hear the rattle
You find the hope in all things grim and gloom,
A wilting poppy, a defeated heart – you make both bloom.

Courageous you are, never lost a single battle
Old war wounds and scars, old soul, I hear the rattle
Please, pick me up, I'm not strong enough through strife
You've battled in war for love, you bring me back to life.
