autopilot

this is all fake

the laughs at the clink of
chardonnay glasses
the endorphins after morning runs
the giggles before snarky jokes
the cheering on good news
the yay's and woohoo's and teehee's

i've been pressed and pushed and molded
into an approved persona,
trauma-mingled and fragile

the road is bumpy and lonely and
i'm still in a dark box, flinching at voices
and cowering in corners,

i'm not happy
i'm not happy
my heart is just an imposter

I know I don't always leave a comment, but please know I read what you share and sometimes don't always know what to say either. Glad that you still are on here and post though. The line about "an approved persona" especially hit, along with I think so many situations where we have to be perceived as strong or acceptable or "together". That line line got my heart.

    Thinking of you.
