I’m gonna marry you

by Beautiful Tragedy   Oct 2, 2024

I didn’t think it was possible to love you any more than I already did but-
I do.
My mom and I have been joking about wedding plans for months;
I already picked out a dress and researched venues in your area,
I’ve never felt so sure and so crazy at the same time.
You tried to buy me a ring pop as an inside joke but they were sold out at the Sheetz we stopped at for a bathroom break;
I introduced you to my dad in tree form and we danced
on the pathway back down from the thousand steps.
We did that hike in a hurricane but for the first time-
The storm was outside of my body and not within, too.
You are my peace;
And I’ve never belonged with someone the way I belong with you.
You left some of your clothes in my apartment and I haven’t stopped wearing them since;
You’ll be back in a few weeks and your t shirts are the cutest night gowns on me.
Football Sundays with you are my new religion;
Early morning forehead kisses and two coffees to go, please.
I never thought I could possibly love you any more than I already did but-
I do.
I know that someday I am gonna marry you,
And this time-
I’m actually proud of that.
