midnight dreams

by writer   Oct 6, 2024

i dream
of scenes
where you draw shapes
on my skin
like epiphanies
i've always wanted to sing.

i'm spiralling
for a high
i've only ever known once.
but i don't want to die
for a lifetime
like a regret breathed in sighs;
i'm no longer breathing him,
i'm trying to get some colour in my face again,
you said i was lucky i have lesser memories
to deal with.

i want you to take me
far and high
beyond the horizons of every sky
i have ever seen
until there is no part of me
that's left in scars from past bruises,
and all parts of you
have dissolved completely
into all dreams you can see of me.
we won't hurt each other,
we'll hold us delicately,
i promise.
