belong

by ana luiza   Oct 13, 2024

I don’t belong here,
Not in this house,
Not in this skin,
Not in this body.

I am a moth,
Drawn to your light, only to perish.
I mimic your smile,
I mirror your fear.

I wear a mask in the crowd,
I am not here,
Not with you.
I dwell in a place far away,
Though you still see me, reflected in your eyes.
