Portrait of pain

by Denis Albert Mshiu   Nov 10, 2024

In depths of pain,
I dwell,
A silent ache,
Too vast to tell.
I can't even explain,
So cold,
As if there were no blood in my veins.
I tried to cut off the world,
In search of peace within the void,
But it didn't work out for me;
Even demons were once my kin.
I painted my ceiling black,
So I don't notice when my eyes open,
But in stillness, I find no reprieve,
For your portrait lingers in my mind.
Each fragment of me kneels for your grace,
Even my shadows dwell in desolate space.
In the heavens, my zodiac aligns,
Yet you fade into darkness.
I try to reach out, but I'm so lost to find
Hope to see you among the stars.
