Red velvet cake

I was at a party
Of animals and midnight.
When I saw this gorgeous cake.
A fine view of later mistake.

Red velvet tux all over
The skinny body of this mister.
Hair slicked back like gatsby.
Drove his father's vintage chevy

As a gent he was,
He carried the studded hand.
Of his lady out for the crowd.
that's when my smile slowly faded.

From my balcony viewpoint
They were a dancing duo.
Hand in hand, cheeks to cheeks.
They were lovely for a date.

I gazed as if him and I was real.
Waltzing under the moonlight scene.
Held him smooth like whip cream
But taste satisfyingly sour, laced with sin.

why does it taste gallingly gratifying
To savor with doubt of someone's feast
On my own fragile plate
like he was a red velvet cake.
