The Commodity of Faiths

by ddavidd   Dec 10, 2024

Kindness is a rare commodity,
though it's capitalized
on the labels of fake smiles.

Caring is just for gain.
God—a commodity of reward,
the bargain of redemption.

Each religion sells salvation.
Salvation for sale!

But the grand salvation,
the biggest of all,
is on special:
Your redemption is already paid for.
God loves you so much
He has already forgiven you—
for every crime you’ve committed,
or might commit again—
if only you buy.

But if you buy,
there’s no refund.
You’d be the son of perdition
if you dared to try,
condemned for eternity,
your soul unsellable,
no market left to barter with.

Religions—the marketplace,
where God Himself
is the rarest commodity.
