There's A Space...

by cassie hughes   Jan 21, 2025

There’s a space now in the corner
where you used to sit and knit,
A space filled once upon a time
with love and joy and wit.
A space out in the garden
where the fat balls used to hang,
So Trevor must go hungry,
Pidgeons just don’t understand.
And Tess the ever faithful
sits upon the bed to wait,
For you to come back down the road
and through the open gate.
A hole has opened up within
to never heal again,
A space that is so empty
and yet filled with loss and pain.
There’s a space now in our hearts
where once your presence constant lived,
A space reserved for mothers love,
forever wrapped in grief.
