Screams and shouts of terror rose as death fell from the sky
Panicked mayhem flooded streets with humans feared to die
The pulsing wave of people swept along in mindless stream
Their only thought escape to somewhere from this hellish dream
Rubble scattered far and wide where loving homes once stood
Eerie silence fills the gaps now childish laughter’s fled
A single spot of colour lies beside the well trod road
Slipped from tiny fingers as the human monsoon flowed.
