My Rocky Road

by Lyn Aribaca   Feb 11, 2025

I thought I was locked,
There seemed to be no way out.
I was trapped in a deep, dark hollow,
My world felt like a burden, shrouded in black.

I walked along a never-ending rocky road,
Head down, eyes low.
I needed a thousand steps to move forward,
Until I reached the end, where I might fall.

Then, one day, a bright light shone,
As I walked, I had to say,
There’s something ahead, not too far away—
I saw a light, guiding my way.

The light kept shining as I kept walking,
It seemed like something was waiting there.
Then I saw my other self waving—
It was me standing there, I'm winning.
