Second Eyes

by Walter   Feb 19, 2025

I never thought I'd see through eyes
Other than my own
I never thought I'd feel you there
When I was alone
I swear that I can hear your laugh
Which makes me raise a smile
But then I only miss you more
Just like a lonely mile

You told me that we're always close
I never understood
The fact we're both far away
How can that be good?
I know we both keep in touch
And often we would call
Although the second you hang up
I'm staring at a wall

Maybe you don't sit at home
Like the way I do
The one we used to share together
With all our memories too
Perhaps now you made new friends
To take me off your mind
Starting fresh and moving on
You left it all behind

You told me we can make this work
Once we both adjust
You said that if our love was true
It will survive on trust
Though all I ever seem to do
Is sit here while I wait
But this is not some night that's ruined
Because you're running late

I never thought I'd see through eyes
I hope that they're not yours
I never thought I would intrude
As if I unlocked doors
I can't help but think that your laugh
Is not some memory
But maybe you've found someone else
And why you laugh at me
