Ellie.

by Poet on the Piano   Mar 4, 2025

A sunset by the water,
something we don't see often.
I heard a hound dog howl
across the half-frozen lake.
For a moment, it transported me
back to the days when we were young.
I found a pacifier in the sand
and wondered who it belonged to.
It made me think of you,
the innocence you kept close
even when the world beat you down.

I wish you were here, sweet girl.
You deserve the world.
And what breaks my heart
is that no one knows you.

No one but me, all parts of me.

It's one of those poems which leaves yhe reader empty..so the impact is more for the writer.
