The Smile Room

by cassie hughes   Mar 26, 2025

No one knew what happened here
The lightening rods, the silent tears

In solitude bereft of light
They spoke of wrong, they preached of right

Behind the walls so plain and bare
Without a thought, without a care

Young minds were bent to others will
To heal what some considered ill

The room was ever labelled this
As in their ‘truth’ should be found bliss.

No matter that the damage done
Could outweigh gain, it troubled none

For they were in the right you see
And carried out their work with glee
