What the Wind Won’t Say

by Denis Albert Mshiu   Apr 5, 2025

I still reach for you in the dark,
as if habit could summon a ghost.
But the air is hollow where you used to be,
and silence is what I hold most.

I whisper your name, but the wind won t reply,
no echoes, no laughter, just space.
The world keeps turning, but I stay the same,
still tracing the lines of your face.

Did you know I loved you enough to break?
That my heart still beats in your hands?
But you slipped through my fingers like falling leaves,

I should let go, I should move on,
but love is not a choice we make.
It stays, it aches, it haunts, it breaks,
a wound that time will never take.

I hope you are weightless, I hope you are free,
beyond all the hurt and the scars.
From the bottom of my heart, you re dead-
but I still talk to the stars.
