Shades of red

Shades of Red

Like the colour of traffic lights
you flashed in front of my eyes
Stop, go, stop go,
until I didn't know
which crossroads had I reached,
turns I took looked the same,
and I found myself lost
right where you left me,
with your DavidOff scent on me,
my scars under your lips,
me at your fingertips,
seeing us in colours
I knew we'd never reach.
Like my cherry lips
touching yours,
my cheeks blushing scarlet
like I'd never known.
Your wine-stained shirt
matching my burgundy skirt,
until the flashing stress of you
made me bleed,
dark red under my skin.
Why are you so difficult to breathe in?
You didn't see lotuses bloom,
but you had me back in a rosy hue,
as you shifted me too close
to you.
I chose you,
amidst infinite impossibilities,
and benign calamities,
as you left your mark on my neck
in shades of deep carmine,
like I was yours for keeping.
Your hands reached for my blood,
but the blood rushed into my cheeks and lips,
as the sky turned maroon.
Perhaps it was a soft fantasy
of having your arms be my homecoming,
wanting so much more of you
that I almost let it slip into nothing,
You could have slept
for hours together in my arms
But I could have spent a forever in yours.

And now your memory is spilling onto my sheets,
like blue blood from my veins,
into a crimson bright story.

Maybe you'll become my rich legacy.
Maybe the memory of me will live on
in your mind for eternity.
Hope the different shades of red
don't turn into rust between telephones,
after all the time we've sewn
together.
