Back Behind A Wall

She's not broken but she's down
It will take some time to heal
The painful truth and reminder
That she's not made of steel

Life goes on when he's gone
Although she's feeling bare
When he walked out the front door
And left the home they share

Silence makes her lose her mind
It is so hard to adjust
The empty home does not welcome
When she's lost the trust

Constant memories which surround
The photos with happy faces
A decade worth now turns to dust
When love no more embraces

A house will turn into a home
With stories to be told
It hurts too much to live without him
But more if it is sold

When surrounded by these walls
Each brick will tell a tale
When their cement seems so strong
While hers was only frail

And foundations never firm
Despite concrete beneath her feet
While she ignored the cracks that formed
Each time that he would cheat

The house is hers, and it still stands
While looking so pristine
Inside sadly she falls apart
But remains a sight unseen
