I Stare at You

by Sierra Rae   Jul 19, 2004

I stare at you
but you don't see me
you look at everyone else
but our eyes never meet.

I can look at anyone else
And they would look back
But I'm not looking at them
I'm watching you

If only you would look
I want to smile at you
Make you think things are okay
Even though nothing is the same

Everything has gone wrong now
We've always been at least friends
And even though you're not looking
My love for you still deepens

Your back is turned now
And I can't see your eyes
You can't see mine either
Or you would know that I cry

Our eyes met once
But yours instantly flashed away
And then a guilty look
Came over your face

I wish you would see me
Just acknowledge that I'm here
But you can't see past the wall
Even though it's clear

You look at me once
Then glance away
What gets me is that you look back
And a smile comes over my face

I hurt you once
And you couldn't let go
But when I finally came back
You weren't looking anymore

I look back down
Keep writing this about you
Then I look up once more
And catch you looking again!!

Baby, I love you
And I want you to see,
That she will leave you,
Then you can come back to me.

wow... this is excellent.. it's like you peeked inside my heart... and found something I had forgotten was there...

I think the line that hit me the hardest was:
I wish you would see me
    Just acknowledge that I'm here
But you can't see past the wall
    Even though it's clear

I have felt that so many times!
