Until the Next Abusive Fight

by Unseen Exposure   Jul 20, 2004

Your cruel, sick world surrounds my life,
These wounds bleed my mind dry,
Void of passion, feeling, and grace,
The lingering question too soon denied,

I fall within your tattered hands,
And I am beaten once again,
Under the surface of a terrible beast,
This cover story that has no end,

In the corner you push and shove,
There’s never room to breathe,
You hit and punch with all you have,
Through my pores your anger seeps,

You throw me hard into the wall,
But then I sink into the floor,
As I try to run for some help,
You lock us both inside the door,

I look at you and beg for mercy,
Instead you kick your hardest kick,
You say that I’ve been bad again,
And that my appearance makes you sick,

After your through you walk away,
And then scream at me for crying,
I know one day this will go too far,
And he’ll leave me on the ground dying,

But for now I curl up in this circle,
And fight back tears with all my might,
I put them away in a deep dark place,
Until after the next abusive fight.
