The Wonderous Gift To Pray

by Eibutsina   Jul 23, 2004

Dear Lord I'd like to pray
For the children on their own
And that we stop taking our families for granted
When there are so many all alone.

Dear Lord I'd like to pray
For those in hospitals sick and unwell
Guide them to better more healthy days
Keep watch till they are well.

Dear Lord I'd like to pray
For the homeless on our streets
Give them warmth when they are cold
Help them fulfill those basic needs.

Dear Lord I'd to pray
For those plagued with addiction
Give them the strength to move on
And see there world for what is fiction.

Dear Lord I'd like to pray
For those old and awaiting their turn
be there guiding light to meeting
Those loved ones they so dearly yearn.

Dear Lord I'd like to pray
For those hearing voices on their mind
Searching and endless journey
May the Lord guide them to find.

Dear Lord I'd like to pray
For those with someone missing dear
May they be returned safely
Not have to face that worst fear.

Dear Lord I'd like to pray
For our brothers and sisters locked down
Keep an eye whilst they are sleeping
Let them make it the second time round.

Dear Lord I'd like to pray
For those contemplating suicide
Make them aware of the realisation
Of the pain it would cause there loved ones if they died.

Dear Lord I'd like to pray
For those risking their lives upholding the law
Keep them safe through unpredictable days
Knowing their service is forever in awe.

Dear Lord I'd like to pray
For those in positions to teach
Creative writing and literature
The power of free speech.

Dear Lord I'd like to pray
For those with someone close taken to the other side
They are safe and they are smiling
And have counted all the tears you've cried.

Today Dear Lord I'd also
Like to say a little prayer for me
I'm needing a little strength today
To help keep me believe

But I thought to not be selfish
I thought to not be vain
I thought about the rest of the world
And all the peoples needs it must contain

I put my needs aside for a moment
And put some other people first
Thought my situation over
And believed things could be worse

So i turned my prayer to a Thank you
Thank you Lord for who i am and what i have today
For everything you have given me
And the wonderous gift to pray!
