Doorway

by Justin Bercheny   Jul 24, 2004

When my Grandma was sick,
she laid in her bed all day.
We brought her food and
gave her love.
We left that night
with a tearful good-bye.
Fore we did not know
if that could be our last.
Early the next morning,
My father woke me with a shake,
He said we must go.
I knew right then by the look in his eyes, i knew she was leaving.
When we pulled in the driveway,
the whole family was there.
And when i got in that doorway,
I saw her lifeless body,
I fell to my knee's and cryed for her.

She was gone, they took her away.
I stayed in that house for hours.
I couldn't go through that doorway.
I remember when we went back to the cold empty house. As I passed through that doorway, she whispered "I love you"
