Look At Her Now

by Sherry Lynn   Jul 24, 2004

Look at her now,
Just sitting there as life passes on by.
She once was so vibrant, so alive,
Now she is slowly waiting to die.

She thought that he would change,
Never expected to see this side.
The bruises that she hides,
He would give her in the night.

She wears sunglasses now,
Just to cover her black eyes.
The story she gave about the accident,
Was really to cover from the beating she took at his hands.

She now wears long sleeves and jeans,
Even though it is ninety degrees outside,
Just so she can cover the cuts and bruises on her side.

She no longer talks casually with him by her side,
Because she is to afraid of what lies beneath the moonlight.
Is he going to curse her, leave her?
Or is her going to beat and kick her once again?

She wants to leave; yet she's to scared,
She's thought of suicide, but the kids she has to protect.
If she weren't here, would he beat them instead?
This is a risk that she can't accept.

So now she sits here day after day,
Waiting for that day, the day that
He will take her life.

She thinks that with him in jail,
And the judge refusing bail,
At least the kids will be safe,
From the monster that created this place.
