Innocent Children

by Sherry Lynn   Jul 25, 2004

As I sit here,
I look to see,
The children playing,
Ever so nicely.

It’s hard to believe,
That these little ones,
Come from the love
That once was
Between you and me.

They’re so sweet,
Innocent as can be,
Not a one can understand,
What happened to our marriage.

They ask so many questions,
Always wondering why,
Why is it just us,
Without daddy again tonight?

I try to tell them,
Explain the best I can,
The way we got along,
Was just pretend.

Things were pretty bad,
Never as they seemed,
Appearances little ones,
Can be deceiving.

They love us both,
This I know,
So now we have
Four little hearts,
With their worlds
Torn apart.
