Nothing is real

by PAUL HEWSON   Jul 26, 2004

Stood naked barefoot on cold stone
slithers of light through the door
dark, not dreams or a nightmare
coz i been here 10 times or more
contempt is not self indulging
and virtue will not set me free
my self belief is disolving
but this darkness is where i can see

my mind it speaks in confusion
dares to tempt me to die
nothing is real , just illusion
and all the truths are a lie
self pity is not just a weakness
it eats and swallows you whole
once i had my own princess
look what she done to my soul

my body it aches to revenge me
for what i have stuck in its veins
my lord when i need him ,where is he ??
no one deserves all these pain
let spirits take me from coldness
away from the pain and the fright
self pity is not just a weakness
please lord take me tonight !!!
