Broken Glass

by Sonya   Jul 28, 2004

Slowly stepping one foot
In front of the other
Walking through the road of life
Tears in my eyes
Scars on my heart

I'm walking on broken glass
All the memories
I was so soon to forget
Worth nothing anymore
As they lay
Shattered amongst my feet

I right foot goes
And left foot gone
The glass doesn't not cause blood
Does to cause pain
For the lost memories
Are hurt enough

I see my reflection
In parts of these pieces
But so many faces appear on each
I just keep on walking
Soon i expect to see my heart
On the ground before me
For i wouldn't feel it

My hearts been stepped on
Its been thrown
Its been shattered once again
Reminiscing all the sorrow and cries
Memories of smiles and laughs
Lay on the floor as well

Just to difficult to stare
As the broken glass
Beneath my feet
Shatters ever so slowly
Just wanted to forget more quickly
The glass is a mirror through my life
As if I'm walking backwards
Through the road of life

I'm trying not to look down
I'm trying not to remember
I'm trying to live the life
I know i was born to live
but without the memories
en-scribed on the glass
i wouldn't have a past

I just wait till the glass is gone
And my heart is mended and back in place
But without a slight glance
I'm walking on my life
As it breaks piece by piece
The pain is empty
As is does not exist
So either does this person I'm leaving behind

So glass now only exists in my mind
I look to the future
Leave the past behind
