Tonight

by Katie Silva   Jul 29, 2004

Tears of regret fall to your death bed
Oh how i wish it were me instead!

I carve you name into my skin
I'd hollow out my soul to place your's in

All i want from you is your illness
To endure your body's eternal stillness

I want the burden of all you've been through
Oh please my love, just let me save you!

And even if you die tonight
I'll sit here and pretend
That you never did leave me
And our love will never end.

Argh, once again a very sad poem. The AA BB rhyme worked pretty well, considering it can become dangerously cheesy sounding when used incorrectly. I guess you used a bit of poetic license by changing the rhyme scheme for the last stanza, and that is totally fine. Good poem.
