My mother

by Ariangela   Jul 30, 2004

The mother was only 15 and she knew she had options
She could have had an abortion or possibly give her up for adoption
But she wanted to keep her; she knew it will be tough
She had no one to help her no one to show her love

She gave birth to her in the hospital bed, a baby in her arms
There she kept her away from pain, away from all harm
The baby was sick; she had to stay in the doctors longer
Her mom was by her side day by day, her love made the baby stronger

Then the government came knocking on their door to take her away
The mother wouldn’t let it happen; she will step through everybody that got in her way
She had to fight to keep the baby with her all the time
It was hard; the father didn’t even give them a single dime

The government finally decided to let the mom keep the toddler
So the child grew and grew with a mother but not a real father
Even though she loves him very much, she knew he will not always be there
That’s just the way things were, she understood that life is not always fair

The child is now fifteen, she has grown surrounded my her mom and on Saturdays a dad
She loves the both but sometimes looking at her mom it makes her real sad
The mom is struggling to support all her children so they could live a good life
She gives them what they need so they could survive

The daughter has a very deep respect for her mom and admires her for what she’s done
She’s done so many things on her own with no type of help from any one
Her mother speaks words of wisdom to her and tells her life is not a walk through the park
And those words keep the child in the light, away from all dark.
