What We Could Be

by Jackie Bilson   Jul 30, 2004

A friend I've known since birth,
In a way the boy next door,
I've searched for years with you by my side,
Now I see I need search no more.

It might not have been love at first sight,
Nor second, third, fourth or fifth.
Because what I sought out was a soul-mate,
Someone who would never drift.

You were there for every skinned knee,
Every lost bracelet, every broken heart.
There hasn't been a single moment,
We've ever been apart.

I feel so safe in your arms,
Like nothing could ever go wrong,
If I was hurt, I'd just come back,
You are the reason I can be strong.

A friendship that has kept me stable,
But can it survive the change to 'romance'?
Because one day we might wake up,
And snap ourselves out of the trance.

So I'll sit in silence and desperately hope,
You're feeling the way I do,
That your heart beats in time with mine,
And someday we'll be one not two.

  • Aww.... that was sweet. Why don't you go and tell him? Its better to say before you regret for not saying. Just my two cents.
