I saw a dream in the moonlight,
t\'was on a night in july,
I saw the moonbeams about her,
and I saw the stars in the sky,
this dream that I saw, wore a gossamer gown,
her hair it was flowing, nearly touching the ground,
I could hear her singing a soft loving song,
like my mother used to,
when she wanted to calm me down,
my heart was rushing as I gazed on my dream,
as I tried to get nearer, she drifted away it did seem,
always staying just out of my reach,
then from behind me an owl did screech,
it waked me from my reverie,
and brought me back to reality,
this dream seemed to be so real and so true,
the girl in this dream, my darling was you.
