My Mask

by Robyn Park   Aug 2, 2004

Look through my mask
And you will see
The pain and hurt
Deep inside of me
Look into my eyes
And concentrate
Through my tears
See the anger and hate
Look at my soul
For it is crying out
Behind my mask
I want to shout
All through my life
I have suffered pain
And all the tears I've wept
Flow down like rain
Remove my mask
And let me show
My face which is scarred
With pain and sorrow
Hold me in your arms
And let me cry
Help me from hiding
Behind a lie
I'll put on my mask
And make you smile
And you will be happy
For a little while
And when God calls me
And I'm no longer around
And you look at my face
And you see a frown
Remember, the smile was only a mask.

wow, didn't really catch my attention until the last few lines, then it really peaked (can't spell) my interest. this is really good, and somewhat relates to my poem "the mask" which is really good. another job well done
