Another death, another life

by Katie Silva   Aug 2, 2004

A frail, old woman
On her white linen bed
The light fades form her dusty room
By sunset she is dead

A thin and hungry child
awaits her dying day
She curls up in the corner
And slowly fades away

A homeless man sleeps alone
Sick, damp and old
Each flake of snow takes warmth away
He freezes in the cold

A deranged and troubled boy
Reaches for the knife
remembering all his sufferings,
He drains his veins of life

An empty bellied child
Screams into the night
By morning it is silent
For the pain, she could not fight

A father's bitter tears
fall into the bay
For his beloved only child
Drowned here yesterday

A grey, lifeless bird
on the parched yellow earth
For each deceased soul
Comes another baby's birth
