HOPE

by Lisa   Aug 2, 2004

I watched her face turn a shade of grey,
As she realised I saw,
The bottle clasped tight in her hands,
As she raised it to her jaw.

She's such a selfish person,
If only she could see,
She'd have a better time without this stupid drink you see.

So many times I've asked her,
To throw this thing away,
She said "I just cant do it child,
It helps me through the day".

Is your life so horrid mum?
Have I caused you pain?
Cause every time you look at me,
All I see is strain.

You tell me I'm not worth it,
You wish I'd go away,
You know how much it hurts me mum,
More and more each day.

I ask you for a cuddle,
Yet, you look in such distaste,
tell me how I caused this mum,
Cause all I see is haste.

At night when I am dreaming,
I'm really far away,
Things are so much different mum,
Together we do play.

You think if I just wait a while,
Till you are not so sad,
And maybe in a little while,
I'll have the mum that I once had.
